Pt. Deochandra Pathak is a veteran tabla player with several decades of experience in both the theory and practice of Tabla. He was born to the Pt Ramchandra Pathak, a reputed singer of his time who was also proficient in playing on the Harmonium and the Esraj.
Having inherited this rich and diverse cultural tradition from his father, Deochandra Pathak took a keen interest in playing on the tabla since childhood. He first learned tabla playing from late Pandit Mahendra Tiwari, an artist of All India Radio, Patna.
Pt. Deochandra Pathak first exemplified his diverse knowledge in music in the service of God, by providing Tabla accompaniment to all the celebrities of that time.
He has also participated in the Festival of India in France in 1985.
Apart from an illustrious career as a tabla player Pt Deochandra Pathak also served the Government of Bihar in its Finance ministry for over 30 years.
